About Tom Linthicum

Tom Linthicum's biography of Mark Dyer, a leading bishop in the Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion in the late 20th century, was published in 2018. A finalist for an award of excellence from the Religion News Association, the book is available from Church Publishing Inc. or Amazon in print and Kindle editions.Experienced in organization development and communications, Tom leads workshops and retreats on leadership, strategic planning, performance management, business writing, teamwork, conflict resolution and recruitment and retention. A member of the Mid-Atlantic Facilitators Network, he also provides group facilitation and management consulting. Tom spent 2013 in South Africa as Visiting Lecturer in Leadership and Management at the College of the Transfiguration. He also was a guest lecturer at the Sol Plaatje Institute for Media Leadership at Rhodes University. In addition, he designed a leadership training program for clergy and lay people in the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, which includes more than 4 million people. He also was an adjunct journalism instructor at the University of Maryland for 22 years.Before founding TDL Group Inc. in 2001, Tom was Director of Employment and Organization Development for The Baltimore Sun. In that role, he oversaw all hiring and training for the company's 1,700 employees. He was also a faculty member in corporate leadership training programs for two Fortune 500 companies—Times Mirror and Tribune.Tom joined The Sun as a reporter in 1974. As a junior editor, he led a task force that completely revised the news staff’s organizational structure. He then moved through a succession of news management positions, eventually assuming all administrative responsibilities for the newsroom’s 400-person staff. He was also Executive Editor/Vice President of The Daily Record, Baltimore's business and legal newspaper. Under his leadership, the publication was named the best of its size in the U.S.
