While continuing to manage the Release Engineering Team, took on a team of 4 Systems Engineers and a Perforce Administrator. The System Engineers are in charge of the shared file storage, Virtual Machines, and compute nodes used by the Continuous Integration System.Led an effort to move the Network-Attached Storage used by the Build and Test system from NetApp appliances to an internally developed NAS solution on commodity PC hardware with Open Source software. The project took 6 months from design to deployment and reduced storage costs by a factor of ten.Coordinated the move of Development from using CVS as our SCM system to Perforce.

Built the Release Engineering team from 2 people into a group of 20 release engineers and 4 manager through hiring and internal transfers. Trained new hires in our products and building and testing methodology.Introduced process improvements and release milestones which resulted in release cycle reduction from 12-24 month range to a 6-month release cadence. Coordinated the high-level schedule to predictably integrate the multiple code branches into the mainline.

• Responsible for the product quality of the Simulink User Interface, and managed 8 Quality Engineers across the 3 different product areas. Worked closely with the Engineering Lead of each area to assess the quality of new features and to determine the product’s release readiness.• Worked with Program Management to define and deliver the first Service Patch release for the MathWorks product line.• Hired and trained experienced and entry-level Quality Engineers.

• Wrote test plans and developed automated tests using the MATLAB language to test new features in the Simulink UI, the Image Processing Toolbox, and the Communication products on Windows and UNIX platforms.• Rewrote product test suites to reduce their execution time while increasing their code coverage.• Wrote perl scripts to automatically collate regression test results across multiple platforms.
