I am a registered architect and certified planner based in Charlotte, North Carolina actively consulting with over 150 multi-day charrettes designing and directed numerous award winning new urbanism neighborhood projects. As Partner with DPZ I established and directed a studio office based in Charlotte for 17 years and helped grow and expand the company with premier master planned new urbanism and redevelopment communities both internationally and regionally. As Director of Civic By Design, with the mission to elevate the quality of the built environment, I continue to lead architecture, urban, and infrastructure design projects as well as the initiatives Light Imprint and Learning Cottages. Light Imprint integrates sustainability and walkable connected community design. This includes the publication the Light Imprint Handbook. Learning Cottages are small scale neighborhood schools and campuses. I am also the creator of Mixopoly, a hands-on design tool for workshops on placemaking. I have also launched the Pop-Up Porch Initiative - Pop-­‐Up Porches is the intentional act of placing portable front porches where they will be able to support existing social activity and serve as a catalyst for community gathering.
