While ultimately responsible to the Director Fleet Management in respect of the following functions relative to the vessels allocated to them, as a group member I work under the general direction of the Director Fleet Management and shall liaise closely with other Technical staff and Commercial staff to ensure that the technical management (engineering) of the vessels is carried out in a safe and practical manner.

Job ObjectiveThe General Manager (GM) is primarily responsible to oversee and lead activities of the MDT (Diesel) site, as part of the EXCO team and to work closely with other members of the Company’s EXCO team with regards to the business plans and goals for MDT-ZA. The GM is responsible for the overall Diesel business unit, business planning including short and long range goals as well as strategic road mapping incorporating all budgeting and milestones and then leading these plans to successful implementation and execution. In addition, these goals and plans need to be continually driven to adhere to excellence in all phases of the business.The GM ensures that all of his tasks, responsibilities and duties are executed timeously and accurately. He makes every reasonable effort, i.e. written requests, announcements at meetings and weekly reporting to communicate non-compliance, delays in projects or obstacles to the ability to perform his duties.In general, the main functions are the following:•Direct the team and provide leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values•Develop and oversee sales and marketing plans•Prepare all budgets for board approval•Establish succession plans for future development and leadership•Review on a routine basis activity and financial performance and compare with the targeted business plan•Continually serve as a visible and accessible resource with key customers, partners and vendors•Access talent with respect to mentoring and monitoring key staff, by measuring and evaluating their performance according to mandated standards•Establish quality protocol and meet regularly to review and re-review standards as necessary•Work with local team, implement goals and continually drive them to adhere to excellence in all phases of the business•Head of the Service department as Service Manager•Head of the Sales department as Sales Manager•Overview of the IT part (Diesel)
