Leader of the Build Strategy team, which is responsible for the provision of Engineering solutions relating to ship assembly. Responsible for delivering Engineering solutions for the shipyards high risk operations, including –• Block movements around site (sections of ships, usually in excess of 1000Tonnes).• Design of support stools and cradles for Units weighing up to 100 tonnes and Blocks weighing up to 10000 Tonnes.• Unit and equipment movements between sites.• Installation procedures for various items of high value equipment such as diesel generators, rudders, stabilisers, radars, sonar domes and weapons systems.

Plan and Control of Lifting and Turning Activities.My main role within the department was to lead the Lifting & Turning team, which is responsible for the safe design of lifting arrangements; this involves producing detailed drawings & structural calculations to prove the local & global strength of structures to be lifted. I have an in depth knowledge of heavy lifting and I have an extensive knowledge of all types of crane.

Checking and signing off Scantling Drawings and associated calculations.I have significant experience working in the Scantling Design office, where I was responsible for the design of ships structures. Scantling Design involves the sizing of ships structural parts (frames, stiffeners, plating etc.), and I produced high quality design drawings and associated structural calculations. I was also responsible for the checking and signing off of drawings and calculations produced by other Engineers.
