Tom has spent over 15 years working in the financial services industry on both the buy and sell side. He has worked closely with regulators in the US and UK, and has been involved in various highly complex and regulatory intensive transactions. He started his career at Barclay’s Capital, where he quickly rose through the ranks, managing a staff of 30 people globally within Finance responsible for valuation, P&L and controls for all of the firm’s “toxic” assets.In building a reputation for industry expertise, leadership skills and tenacious drive for success, he was enlisted to help in the formation of C12 Capital Management, a $12.8bn management buyout from Barclay’s Capital in September of 2009, where he was partner and CFO and later became COO. During the 6 years Tom was at C12, he aided in orchestrating all aspects of the business from trading, operations, prime brokerage, HR, strategy and business development. In parallel to these responsibilities, Tom also played a key role in restructured the terms of the Barclay’s transaction, setting up a ~$1bn open market 2/20 fund, forming a mortgage servicer, and moving the operating company to Bermuda for tax optimization. After C12, Tom was instrumental in the formation of a FinTech startup, Polly Portfolio, using the investment IP developed at C12. Polly first delved into becoming a Robo Advisor, later pivoting to enterprise sales in order to create bespoke customer investing solutions for managed account and financial advisors. Tom wore every hat from CFO, COO and CCO.
