My roles and responsibilities include conversing with the customers and helping with their requests. I keep track of inventory and restock the shelves after deliveries arrive in store. I have been shown how to keep accounts on a daily basis for the days takings and am responsible for counting the float each evening for the till for the following day. I assist with all daily deliveries, checking that the invoices for all the items had been delivered agree and make sure the stock room is organised.

While on this placement, I experienced the consulting side of Engineering. I participated in conference meetings and on-site evaluations. I learnt about the diverse areas within the Engineering sector while advising clients by identifying problems with future projects and providing solutions that met their individual needs.

While working there I undertook many diverse tasks including reading architectural drawings which helped me to improve my attention to detail and precision in working out measurements to ensure the renovations on the current building projects were done correctly and to give a better understanding of an everyday task that engineers will deal with. Also, while working there, I went out onto various building sites to shadow a surveyor as they checked positional grid references of the buildings to ensure they were safe and correctly constructed.
