When one of our education partners required that we become SOC2 certified, I was tapped to lead the project. I started from scratch to create and implement the policies and procedures required by this industry standard leading to a successful audit. Employee training, on boarding and off boarding are included in my compliance activities.My role also includes deploying and maintaining technology tools to support our staff. From the internal office network to their computers and mobile phones, I am the one they call when they need assistance.

I started at the CEOs dining room table as this company was being launched. Initially my role included service to the team of programmers - taking tasks like server management and support. As we found office space, I worked out the technical details of network development, hardware management and vendor relations. From a customer service perspective, my primary focus was student and instructor support and managed a small team of customer care professionals. Today the user base has grown dramatically. I helped develop systems that allow tens of thousands of students per year to be served by a very small and efficient team. Much of the credit is due the tech team who writes stuff that doesn't break. We've also been able to collect very specific data on when and why students need help in order to staff most efficiently and inform the tech group accurately.Service has become a hallmark of the Soomo brand. I am always energized by the opportunity to get a student unstuck and back to learning.

I started as a consultant and was hired on as the first member of the Information Technology team. DH is a super dynamic firm that grew enormously during my time on staff - as a result my role changed quite a few times in the 10 years I was on board. As the sole member of the team, I spent my time troubleshooting and expanding the local networks in each of the firms offices and supporting hardware and software at the desktop level.I soon achieved the Microsoft Certified System Engineer and Citrix certification. From there I led the company to take advantage of server virtualization using Microsoft Terminal Servers and Citrix software. As our team grew, I managed up to 8 techs who were primarily working on back end systems and multi-office VPN networking issues.My next major project was to build Asterisk based phone systems that would take advantage of internet call routing and ultimately add features while saving the moneys. That proof of concept success led to the integrated Cisco phone system in place today throughout the firms dozen or so offices.My final few years were spent focusing on selling technical services and support to the firms clients. Most of the work was in partnering with the health care accounting branch as they sold a centralized management software suite to their long term care facility clients. My group traveled regionally to install secure internet connections and PCs to allow the facility to access the central server. We also did remote tech support for the nursing home staff as needed. Growth in that business unit was very healthy as a result of the technology solution that we introduced.Aside from the technical skills, my communication training was tested and honed as I walked partners and admins alike through sticky tech situations while projecting an infectious calm. My team became known as interpersonal ninjas who could defuse drama, explain and deliver tech.

Moscow, Russian Federation

Just after the wall came down, I moved to Russia to run the technology presence in the offices of Cru. The Moscow office housed 9 different organizations and we served their administrative needs including passports, visas, customs clearing, mafia mitigation, financial, translation, legal, printing, etc. My role was to build and maintain the internal computer network as well as international communications via phone and email. The internet had not found Russia just yet, so we built our external links with banks of modems. The internal network was approximately 75 computers, printers, fax machines, phones. Due to the nature of the country at the time - the scope of my role went from fixing toasters to international document courier work. The opportunity to travel the world and serve was life changing. Multi lingual troubleshooting and think-on-your-feet problem solving in international scenarios has served to make me more capable in handling change and close to immune to the stresses of the unknown. My greatest achievement was to train Russian staff members to run the network and deliver needed services. Nothing better than handing off the locals who love their country and people better than I ever could.

I joined Cradlerock full time after spending many many hours working with them as an adjunct ropes course trainer. We led groups - corporate to high school - through high and low ropes course elements. Our goal was to break down interpersonal barriers and engender healthy communication amongst group members and leaders.My role was to manage the teams that built and maintained ropes courses for customers all over the country. The largest time slice was spent on scheduling and coordinate teams with the customers development timeline. Once the date was locked in, I sought to supply my teams, provide for travel and housing and detailed instruction of what to build where.I also served as a ropes course trainer, helping groups work through the issues that inevitably come when intentional structured stress is introduced. I was most often chosen to work the zip platform where all of the students made their grand exit. My office was a 2x2 foot platform 60 feet up a tree where I made sure the safety rigging was correct for the student. Most of the time was spent quieting a students fears and encouraging the boldness required to launch down the zip line.

I loved this job - first one out of college. I was on a team that was rewriting the financial aid qualification system for The College Board. This software evaluated applications for federal student grants and authorized the distribution of funds. I was obviously the junior member and did a lot of report writing, evaluating the output of the system based on specific test criteria. Loved the team, loved the hustle, learned a whole lot!
