The 2017 World Athletics Championships brought together a team of 7,000 people to deliver a global event to an audience of over a billion people, involving 3000 athletes from 200 countries with ticket sales of 1 million.The goal set for the team was to ‘Deliver the best Championships ever’ As Head of Planning my role was to:- Design and build a Project Management Team that could implement a 4-phase championship delivery model. - This herculean task involved 6 programmes combining 60 projects with a drop-dead timeline with constant budgetary pressure.- To ensure that we, the Local Organising Committee delivered our contractual milestones and worked in an open proactive customer centric manner with the:- IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) - World Para Athletics (formerly IPC )- DCMS, UK Sport and GLA - UK Athletics- The Board, Audit Committee and Funders Group for London 2017- National Crime Agency, National Cyber Security Centre and The Cabinet Office- To re-design, own and manage the Championship Risk Register. To actively engage with all Business unit leads, Audit Committee Chair, UK Sport and Cabinet Office to ensure Risks were captured and mitigated against. Ensure the promotion of open constructive dialogue to enable stakeholders to have confidence in the LOC’s ability to identify, manage and mitigate risks.- To provide assurance, interactive reporting and updates to the Board, Audit committee, UK Sport and Senior Management Team to ensure progress was monitored and reported on in a timely manner.- To deliver all of the above with the largest temporary organisation the country has seen since the Olympics. The team went from 6 people to 7000 in less than a year.

Seconded to UK Athletics as – Transformation Director to:• Design and scope the UK Athletics People & Culture Transformation Programme, with the aim of delivering and embedding 3 distinct yet intrinsically linked projects: – New company values – Achieve the Equality Standard in Sport Advanced Level– The 2017 World Championships People Plan• Act as interim Equality and Diversity Officer for UK athletics at national governing body and federation quarterly meetings.

I have over 20 years of experience in a project and operational roles working for large multi-national companies in both the public and private sector utilising many methodologies including Prince, DePict, Kaizen and DEMAIC project & process improvement approaches. My current focus is on managing large programmes with complex stakeholder management structures and multiple work streams in areas such as:- M&A's- Transformation programmes- Infrastructure programmes- Technology projectsTo ensure the relevant boards, sponsors and stakeholders have confidence in the structure, delivery and governance of these change programmes.
