Nakina Systems, a young software company providing cutting edge network assurance and service intelligence management software systems, focused on national carriers, system integrators and governments.• Ensured a cohesive, effective and productive corporate transition from iPine Networks to Nakina Systems after the corporate sale in January.• Successfully launched the service intelligence management solution portfolio into the United States by receiving in-principle US Government procurement authorization and conducting trials with US system integrators.

iPine Network’s a start-up software company providing ‘real time’ management information focused on extracting, processing and producing operational metrics when employing the internet as an office communications network. iPine Networks was sold to Nakina Systems in January 2004.• Assisted in selling iPine Networks within two years to a venture investment house yielding an appropriate investment return to the angel investors, founders and staff. Sold these software solutions to both the Federal and Ontario Governments and to TELUS and AT&T Canada for their Managed Network Services portfolio.• Established ‘channels to market’ in Canada, South America and parts of Europe.

Accountable for the financial P&L performance and customer service growth in the Ottawa and Gatineau markets; planned, constructed and implemented broadband fibre networks in Ottawa, Gatineau and Halifax; and directed the data order management-provisioning national system out of a ‘hornet’s nest’’ mess into a corporate successes…all of this performed in a union environment.

Accountable for the merger of Rogers Telecom Inc. into MetroNet Communications for the Ottawa-Gatineau business unit; for meshing a broadband fibre network with a voice narrowband network; for spring-boarding MetroNet into a full fledge voice enterprise competing against Bell Canada; and for growing both the broadband data and voice businesses across commercial and government sectors.

Accountable for the start up of RTI in the greater Ottawa area with emphasis on direct sales to the Federal Government, on network expansion and implementation, on securing landlord approvals for commercial and network points of presence and on establishing a strong, committed and entrepreneurial sales and operational team.

Accountable for a brand new service product portfolio, including the introduction and development of a newly specialized retailers’ satellite shared network services in U.S. shopping centres through direct sales with corporate retailers, strategic alliances with U.S. retail associations and direct negotiations with shopping centre landlords.

General Manager 1991 – 1993Accountable for all satellite communications sales to corporate business, broadcasting and government sectors through strategic account planning and strategic sales pricing approaches with a strong commitment for customer post-sales satisfaction. Responsible for rebuilding Sales and Operations and directing a diverse multi-disciplinary staff nationally.Director, Regulatory Matters and Corporate Policy 1980 – 1991Responsible for directing and managing all of Telesat's regulatory and government activities, including rates, tariffs, submissions, and applications to the CRTC with a staff of 20 multi-disciplinary experts. Acted as the company's public hearing strategist and in-house regulatory lobbyist, together with representing Telesat at Parliamentary and Senatorial Committees.
