Tom has served the National Propane Gas Association on several national committees for the past decade as well as an officer for his state chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers.As Vice President of Risk Engineering for Aegis General Insurance Company, Tom is responsible for creating the vision and providing the leadership that will be the basis for the future of the organizations risk control efforts. Tom has extensive experience in transportation, and workers compensation specializing in teaching and training companies to think beyond regulatory requirements and to focus on making true organizational change through behavior based methodologies. In addition to his risk engineering experience Tom has broad experience in underwriting, marketing, and mitigating insurance risk.Tom earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety Management and Fire Science from the University of Central Missouri and is currently working on his MBA.Outside of the industry, Tom is a 6th Degree Master Instructor of Youn Wha Ryu Tae Kwon Do, a purple belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and a Level II Certified Police & Military Combative's Instructor. Tom is member of various community organizations and assists a number of charities in their fundraising endeavors. Tom specializes in teaching community women’s self-defense courses and works with children with wide ranging disabilities offering them the opportunity to participate and enjoy the many benefits of martial arts.

As the first Manager of Risk Engineering for what was American Management Corporation, I Designed, implemented, staffed, set policy and trained a Risk Engineering Department to provide Risk Engineering services throughout the United States for clients in the energy segment as well as many other commercial risks. Ongoing responsibilities include the over-site, training and management of my staff of Risk Engineers, management of contracts and strategic partnerships with external companies and insurance partners, management of departmental budget and internal consultation with underwriting to provide risk associated guidance.So as not to become stagnant behind a desk and keep my field skills honed I maintain a territory consisting of seven states as well as lead ownership of key accounts and complex risks throughout the country. Partnering with our agency force allows me to provide agent training, coordinate marketing efforts through service and assist agents with account retention and the acquisition of new business through risk management inititiatives.Over the last two years I have focused considerable time on the design, development and implementation of a multi faceted Risk Engineering database utilized by all levels of the corporation to monitor and improve workflows, increase service levels and improve overall management functionality.I am now in the process of designing a risk management web portal for use by customers, agents and employees to continue our practice of excellence in service.I have had the opportunity to design loss control plans to meet Texas Department of Insurance requirements and represent our insurance partners during Texas loss control audits and manage workers compensation program compliance for workers compensation.All in all the 14 years spent with AMC were very rewarding in a way that most people never experience in their careers!
