Tom Park an education adviser on virtual learning spaces obtained all his qualifications from Stellenbosch University. Besides his previous managerial experiences as Chair of a large academic department and as Dean of the Faculty of Education, he was also commissioned at Stellenbosch University to manage the development of a cutting-edge virtual learning environment to provide extended learning opportunities for the postgraduate students of the University and to explore the possibilities of using the virtual platform to enlarge the University's footprint through professional partnerships with private sector companies and community engagement projects. He presented papers on technology-enhanced education strategies and virtual learning spaces in a higher education context at numerous international conferences. As part of his service to different Southern African communities he presented a wide range of seminars and workshops on leadership development to a variety of educational leaders, student leaders and managers in the private sector. During his employment at Stellenbosch University he received the prestigious Rectors's Award for Excellence on two occasions.Tom is currently the CEO of The Virtual Learning Platform, a company guided by the slogan Gateway to professional excellence to emphasize the purpose of the company i.e. to increase access to pertinent and high quality online courses on an anytime, anyplace and anywhere basis that will ensure excellence in the workplace.
