I worked at Popworld for two and a half years, I thoroughly enjoyed my Friday and Saturday nights experiences working behind a bar in a totally new working environment as I'd never worked in the industry before. Now I have gained some vital hospitality experience, I am now extremely competent in this field. Throughout out my hospitality experience I picked up and improved upon many skills including the followingEfficiency and attention to detail, with great Alcohol and beverage knowledge.Convenient catering using serving and sales experience to increase the bars profits at special events.Building rapport.Customer service.Collecting payments and till experience.Keeping the bar equipment/club clean.Abide the Challenge the 21/25 laws- to prevent under age drinking.Preventing customer excessive drinking.Maintaining and managing stock.

I had a compulsory 120 hours to complete as part of one of my modules in second year. I was accepted to shadow the director of sport for the full 120 hours. I was almost acting as another one of the schools sports and games teachers, additionally being able to demonstrate and deliver my own strength and conditioning sessions early in the morning, lunch time break, during P.E lessons and after school additionally. This was well received by the pupils (aged 12-18). The positive feedback I was given has allowed my confidence and experience to grow immensely.

During the summer months of my first two summers at university, I worked for the organisation 'Camp America' at Camp Lokanda, located in the suburbs of New York. Lokanda is a multi cultural camp and as staff we had strict set of convention's to follow and were expected to mentor the children to follow. During my first year at camp, my primary role was a lifeguard on the main lake at the camp. The secondary role, but probably more important, was a camp counselor. This involved sharing a boarding facility with the campers, looking after her pastoral well-being, dealing with homesickness, arbitrary in friendship conflicts, all whilst ensuring safeguarding and child protection procedures were upheld. The following year I was invited back for a 2nd summer but this year as a permanent counselor role. However as a 2nd year counselor. Being one of the more experienced staff on campus, I was having alot more involvements in the day to day decision making and alot more responsibilities. For example been given the role of Group Leader for a few days when other colleagues had their days off. This great responsibility included controlling 6 staff (18-25 years) as well as the 30-40 campers.

I have been working here since I was 16, I first qualified as a lifeguard in 2015 and instantly was employed by RNAS Yeovilton swimming pool. I only work here in the holidays as I am away at university during term time. I have gained vital experience here, working at a naval air base requires having extreme professionalism, commitment and enthusiasm. Learning to communicate with employers and customers in different ways. Such as via sign language, verbal and whistle.
