My main role is the programming and setting of 2 Nakamura MX100 9 axis, multi spindle, multi turret mill turn machine, since taking delivery of the machines 2 years ago I have worked to make the section as efficient as possible in a high mix low volume environment, this has been achieved through using innovations from suppliers such as one piece quick change bar liners and heinbuck quick change collets to ensure a fast physical changeover and setting standards and process to ensure the reliable setup of new components on the machines

My main role included the manual programming and running of cnc mills and lathes on heidenhain/ seimens control to produce precision parts for die and mold components out of hardened steel using the latest techniques such as hard turning and hard milling to reduce cost and improve turnaround for demanding customers Other roles included design review of new mold drawings either in house or from customers to ensure correct tolerances / tolerance stack ups and over all function of the design Manual / semi automatic bench and cylindrical grinding to achieve 0.002mm tolerances Assembly / disassembly of mold tools and identifying and correcting issues related to the uniformity of pressure between mating surfaces of multiple cavity dies
