I am an economist with thirty years experience in post-secondary education. I have taught and conducted research in Canada, the US, and the Cayman Islands.My professional interests are in economic growth (particularly regional and community economic growth), the combination of technological change and changing social institutions that promote economic growth, the critique of traditional neo-Classical economics, international trade and finance, and the history of economic thought.In light of the current economic crisis I am interested in conducting more in-depth research into the shifting foundations for future economic growth. I do not believe that the convnetional wisdom in economics today, based on traditional, nineteenth century, neo-Classical economics, can lead to stable and sustainable economic growth - internationally, nationally, or in communities. Much more work on the nature for future economic growth, and strategies to realize stable and sustainable growth needs to be done.
