Manager of the authorities’ customer information system (CIS) written using MicroFocus Cobol on a Windows 2000 Server, with clients using Windows XP and 2000 work stations. Duties included meeting with users to define business problems and design solutions. Responsible for the design and development of system enhancements and new applications. I also managed the RWA programming staff. Applications included billing, collections, financial reporting, meter reading, work orders, inventory, customer contact and the recreation program.

I provided software consulting services to Mac Data’s customers. Customers were generally small companies that did not have an IT staff. Responsibilities included systems analyst & design work and maintaining the customer’s computer operating systems. Applications included a tax billing and collection package, a water laboratory testing and results reporting package, a package to bill the state of Connecticut department of children and families for tuition and room & board for students sent to area schools, and general billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and general ledger packages.

I was responsible for the design and implementation of the companies computing systems. I wrote the system from scratch on a Data General mini-computer utilizing COBOL and the INFOS database supplied by Data General. All of the systems were manual before 1980. The systems included billing and collections, production control, inventory and financial reporting. I was responsible for the training of all system users. I was also responsible for maintaining the operating system, coordinating and installing new software releases and fixes.
