Tom Pierson is Founder and Chief Technology Officer of TAS Energy, a leading provider of high-efficiency modular energy and infrastructure solutions serving the global Internet / Data Center, Power Generation and Industrial Cooling industries.A visionary & entrepreneur, Mr. Pierson has always been at the forefront of change and environmental consciousness through innovation in energy conversion processes. He founded TAS Energy (formerly known as Turbine Air Systems or TAS) to provide completely factory engineered and prefabricated modular utility infrastructure which had previously always been field erected. The factory-built approach provided guaranteed performance, improved efficiency, reduced project risk and streamlined deliveries for a variety of different industries. TAS is the originator and global leader in producing additional peak power from gas turbine power plants through Turbine Inlet Chilling (TIC) which Tom pioneered by completing the world’s first TIC projects in the 1980s. This concept was later expanded into its patented Generation Storage systems to enable cost effective large scale bulk energy storage. The chilling concepts developed for the power industry were later applied to the District Cooling industry when TAS completed the Palm Island project in Dubai (the worlds largest at the time). Tom has since been involved in expanding this modular concept to the Data Center, Internet and Telecommunications industries to improve efficiency and reduce the cost of converting electrical power into data. All of these different utilities (power, data, cooling/heating) can benefit from improving the financial value (IRR & NPV) to the owner via TAS' modular approach which reduces project schedule, risk, and cost vs the traditional design-bid-build construction model.

General Manager of the Industrial Division in Houston specializing in Industrial Cooling for the Petrochemical & Process industry. Tom later began applying process cooling technologies to Power Plants to generate additional peak capacity and he led the team that completed the world’s first Gas Turbine Inlet Chilling project in 1987.

After graduating from the Trane Sales Engineering Training Program in Lacrosse, WI in 1980, relocated to Houston as a Sales Engineer in the Industrial and Process market. He focused mostly on large tonnage chillers (Absorption, Centrifugal, and Screw chillers) for applications in demanding petrochemical and process applications. Tom worked with Plant Owners, EPC Contractors, and Equipment Modification Contractors as well as the factory to properly apply commercial chillers for non-typical chiller applications. He also worked with outside contractors and other equipment suppliers to develop ancillary equipment packages which might be required to complete a chilled water system.
