Tom has 22yrs experience of electrification from the UK, Australia and NZ. Tom is capable of providing a full range of design services from conceptual layouts to full detailed design. His design skills include production of layout, bonding plans, bridge & tunnel sections, cross sections, electrical sectioning diagrams and bespoke design. Tom is proficient in writing design specifications and installation and acceptance manuals. Tom has provided a number of design reviews for clients and third parties to assist with future project planning and optioneering. Tom regularly undertakes Interdisciplinary Reviews with Track, Signalling, Power & Civil engineers to ensure that design can be fully integrated. Tom has peer reviewed electrification designs provided by others and given detailed feedback on engineering and standards compliance. Tom has managed a number of designs through from conceptual design through to construction and full operation. He specialises in working with small highly skilled teams delivering complex design solutions. He leads by example, insisting on high quality designs and works closely with clients and third parties to ensure that designs are fully integrated and that strong lines of communication are maintained. Tom has considerable experience providing fast, practical, and effective engineering support to construction managers including utilising a multitude of different systems and components from specialist manufacturers. Tom has also undertaken a large number of panning inspections and is competent to assess pantograph running and sign installation into service, as well as assessing pantograph performance issues to approve speed increases where required.
