Led Process Development, Material Supply and Material Science teams, to devise and implement materials research strategy to effectively support CDT's Display & Lighting programs and to deliver improved Polymer-OLED materials (Organic Light Emissive Device).Responsibilities:• Part of Management Team (of 5) responsible for the Operational & HSE Management of whole site (~50 employees).• Direct line management responsibility for 11 scientists (synthetic chemistry & analytical chemistry) & 1 purchasing/lab support role.• Strategy and implementation of research plans for above teams.• Polymers process development, optimisation & control for the research group, internal material supply (monomers & polymers).• Management of FTE & fee for service chemistry outsourcing projects within UK, East & West Europe and Asia.• Responsible for monitoring/reviewing site consumables budget.Key Deliveries:• Implemented new polymer process with Mw control and fast GPC measurement delivering fully ink jet compatible material set to device pilot line for baseline control.• Proposed & led defect analysis program, successfully identified and subsequently removed two key performance limiting defects responsible for display image sticking. Yielded x2 lifetime performance boost and set QC specifications for commercial product scale-up.• Inventor on key patent portfolio (spans all roles at CDT) e.g. WO2012049462, WO2010119277, WO2010119275, WO2010013002, WO2010010356, WO2009093033, WO2004041901, WO2003035796.• Operational objectives including, implementation of new document management & chemical stock systems, delivered >10% materials budget saving, scale-up committee implementation.
