My personal leadership purpose revolves around 3 things:1. Inspiration - you can have the greatest plan in the world, but it can only work if you have the right people, in the right positions, with a genuine connection to the purpose of the business. This environment creates a positive, thriving culture. 2. Impact - I'm drawn towards challenges where I can work in a team that makes a difference to clients. Ultimately the client is the central focus of purpose. This can involve doing more for clients but also doing existing, valuable services better.3. Respect - my late father taught me one valuable lesson - the best read you will ever get on someone is how they treat people who aren't necessarily of major importance at that time. This goes to the heart of their instinctive habits in how they treat people. Respect isn't just about the big moments, it's often a series of 1% ers that all add up to something. I have been very fortunate to work with some terrific leaders who shaped my personal purpose. For 17 years I worked for MLC which was an incredible business school. I was given the privilege of running Godfrey Pembroke and the broader MLC self employed advice business. In partnership with advisers, and the leadership of Steve Tucker, we took positions on commissions and conflicted remuneration that were 7 years ahead of regulation (self-regulation). I'm very proud of our collective achievements. It made a difference to clients, our advisers and the industry. I was also on the MLC Foundation Committee which ultimately gave circa $1m to Lifeline each year. Having lost my father to suicide in 2005 it has always been a cause close to my heart. This experience also taught me the value of accountants and financial planners working together to help my mother and our family.In the last 7 years I have been a partner of Encore Advisory Group, primarily helping integrated advice firms scale their business across accounting, financial advisory and mortgage broking. My primary role has been chairing boards and Advisory Boards, working on strategy, execution and governance. At times I have stepped into the CEO role where needed. I will continue to help loyal clients of Encore; however, as an impact player.I'm really looking forward to achieving great things with the team at Adrians. For me this involves playing my part in making a difference to clients and our team that serves them.
