I am currently an Assistant Reserves Officer based in the Solent, managing reserves such as Farlington Marshes, Swanwick Lakes, Pewitt Island and Hookheath. Following a year of travel I have taken on this role with renewed energy and enthusiasm being able to gain on my previous knowledge acquired whilst at Hampshire County Council and through working abroad last year.This year I will be completing qualifications in trailer handling, tractor operating and chainsaw small fell and cross cut. This will allow me to be more involved in and gain a stronger understanding of the countryside management sector. Alongside this training I have learnt to work with nature to ensure it's recovery and progression. I've designed and built habitats for Schedule 1 species like the Bearded Tit in an unprecedented time where their natural habitat has been severely affected by climate change. I have also been involved in creating safe nesting rafts for terns at Farlington Marshes allowing the species to grow.Coordinating and working closely with volunteers, I am able to achieve projects in a timely manner utilising individual strengths and experience to an overall advantage.I am working towards gaining the position of Reserve Officer (RO)in the next year, having worked towards my objectives in this current role whilst also looking ahead and gaining knowledge of the RO roles and responsibilities in order to be ready for that next step. Working closely with local schools I've also given talks and provided a friendly face to Meet the Professionals workshops which gave secondary children the chance to learn about the Wildlife Trust and ask questions about my profession.

The role consisted of a diverse range of tasks from parkland maintenance to promoting and encouraging visitor engagement of the grade II listed parkland. Working weekends allows me to develop my own personal interests in water management which included building bank defences, clearing overgrowth and establishing fish health for a small angling community. The countryside sector is particularly short of money at the moment so I make a point of finding resourceful ways of completing tasks at minimal cost, primarily using the natural materials available in the Park itself.

Having originally joined as a volunteer at the end of the second Covid lockdown following my step down from my Managerial role at ASDA, I was offered a position as a Casual Ranger. At the same time a position was opening up at Staunton Country Park for an Assistant Ranger so I took the opportunity to apply, and successfully gained a full-time position which started in September 2021.

Working throughout the pandemic serving vulnerable customers and a sudden surge in online customer orders.Managing a team of 30+ delivery drivers and 8 vans to meet the needs of the business. Organised and planned rotas, driver meetings and holidays.Regularly interacted and dealt with customers either over the phone or in person whilst adhering to the required health and safety standards and data protection laws.Trained staff and provided extra help where necessary, beyond my allocated working hours, if required, to get the job done. Promoted staff welfare by adopting an open door policy and doing regular one to one meetings. Put forward for the Section Leader role within 4 months of beginning as a delivery driver, earlier than the expected 6 months period.

As a Graduate Estate Manager, I worked across five estates of varying size and purpose. Establishing close ties with the stakeholders as well as seasoned contractors to facilitate the running of some 200 plus tenanted properties. Whilst managing budgets and setting out Business Plans I was able to gain a greater understanding of a longstanding managerial process I had begun to learn during my Masters at Reading. I also took part in various annual events to promote Savills and provided a face to the business which clients and interested parties could come and speak to, allowing me to widen my scope whilst building a network of contacts in the business. My learning took me to various RICS workshop events across the country where I gained a better understanding of my current and future role in a wider context of the Surveying sector.
