Responsible for the overall back-of-the-house operations for property management, including marketing, construction services, revenue management, training and education, utility, energy management, national purchasing, procurement, contract management, real estate tax management and financial and operational reporting for the portfolio. Tom also leads Berkshire’s ESG and sustainability initiatives via BerkshireTHRIVE and serves on Berkshire’s Operating Committee. Tom holds a Certified Apartment Manager (CAM®) designation from the National Apartment Association and is a Certified Property Manager (CPM®) with The Institute of Real Estate Management. Tom also currently holds a board position for the Property Management Association of Washington DC as past President and is an active member of the National Apartment Association, Urban Land Institute, USGBC, the Apartment and Office Building Association in Washington D.C., and the local IREM chapter. Tom’s past board affiliations include The Urban Land Institute Center for Sustainability and Economic Performance Advisory Board and the board of directors for Maryland Multifamily Housing Association.

All internal property management operations with responsibility for the leadership of Berkshire’s property management team in the company’s Eastern Division. The portfolio currently consists of over 19,000 units contained in 70+ apartment communities located throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Southeast states. Responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive programs, initiatives, and strategies that promote the optimum operational, financial and business performance of the individual assets within the Eastern Division as well as the potential of the overall portfolio.

Organized and established a highly skilled management platform responsible for the day-to-day property management operations, revenue enhancements, value add programs, purchasing, energy management, expense management, asset preservation and asset management of 47 assets, 18,000 units located in 4 states (MD, AL, VA & FL) nearly 1.1 billion dollars of real estate.

Oversaw portfolio operations for both company owned properties and third party assets; consisting of J.V. partnerships, institutional clients and private owners. Portfolio size ranged between 8-14 properties or 5,400 to 7,800+ units depending on acquisition, disposition & development activity.  Manage high-end luxury properties in Virginia, DC and Maryland. There are multiple ownership entities with an estimated value of more than $500 million.  Responsibilities and experience include redevelopment, property start-ups, and lease-up and stabilized operations.  Establish and maintain consistent communication and reporting with lenders, construction, ownership partners and executive mgmt.  Overall responsibilities include but not limited to owner relations, complete P&L responsibilities, budget and capital preparation and control.  Create and maintain SOP’s, review and approve monthly, quarterly and annual investor / owner reporting.  Inspect properties to ensure quality control, organization and operational standards are in line with company and owner expectations.
