Working closely with the Technical Manager, my role encompasses a variety of areas:- Advising the sales and marketing team on what is and is not feasible with regards to solutions provided- Designing the network and phone solutions to be implemented- Configuring the network equipment, and assisting customers with deployment- Working with the service desk on complex issuesIn addition to this, constantly looking at new ways to automate/make our operations more efficient means innovation is a significant part of the role.The equipment/services we work with includes but is not limited to:- Fortinet- Juniper- Smoothwall- Netsweeper- 3CX

Following the takeover of Net Technical, while much of my role remains the same, some of the core systems have changed. We now use Connectwise and Screenconnect for tickets and device management for example.

My role involves supporting a variety of customers from schools to medical and financial institutions. Problems could vary from simple fixes such as password resets to complex issues involving firewall and server configuration changes.- Managing Office 365 and Azure, achieving both MS-900 and AZ-900 certifications- Supporting a variety of different network and server setups- Honing my troubleshooting skills over the phone- Datto RMM, Autotask- BCDR solutions: Acronis, Datto, Windows Server Backup and more- Ubiquiti Unifi- Fortinet and Zyxel firewalls

My role includes supporting the business IT systems internally as well as clients with our solution.As with most support roles, I have had lots of experience with phonecalls and emails. The role is more oriented towards the connectivity side so most equipment I interface with are routers or access points.Sometimes I will need to attend a client's site which involves some travelling (could be anywhere in the country).This role has taught me about the etiquette needed when speaking to customers, as well as given me many opportunities to influence how the company grows.Some of my greatest achievements while here are:- Creating a Netperf server in AWS to test router connectivity speeds- Creating/presenting a presentation for a group of us to show at Teentech- Presenting the concept of Wireless Communications to the internal team so everyone has a better understanding of the technicalities of our solutionsThe company also enjoys many group activities out of work hours too- one of the most popular lately is escape rooms! These have been great for getting to know everyone better in a more informal setting.

My role includes supporting the school network- this includes maintaining networking devices and resolving any issues (such as WiFi connectivity problems or the inability to access the Internet) should they arise. The school uses Xirrus wireless access points so I have learned to use the administration software for this vendor. I have also learned how to use the HP and 3com switch Command Line Interfaces, which have their own differences compared to Cisco IOS.I am also gaining valuable experience with Windows Server, especially the Group Policy side. To aid the Digital Signage project, I created a group policy to make the Signage devices never go to sleep or turn off their displays.As well as the network support side, I also work as first line support alongside the rest of my team for basic computer issues people may have. This includes laptop repairs to support the laptop scheme, resolving software issues and other similar activities.Around the end of June 2017 I was awarded the 'Perins Star' award for going 'above and beyond to make Perins a better place for our learners'. This is a monthly contest where whoever gets the most recommendations from staff around the school (when they think you've done a particularly good job) wins.I also coded a website using PHP and SQL as a booking system for loan laptops. This saved the school money paying an external contractor to provide the same thing.
