Schefter, CCIM, CPM, CSMTom joined AURA in 1989 and is the Senior Vice President and Head of AURA's Tax Credit and Equity Real Estate Asset Management Groups. Tom is responsible for the management and oversight of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit and Equity Real Estate portfolios and respective Asset Management groups, including 24 managers and related support staff, located in the New York and Cedar Rapids offices. In previous roles at AEGON, Tom served in the capacity of a Property Manager for Life Investors/Aegon USA, worked in Commercial Mortgage Loan Originations, and exclusively on the RCC portfolio in the New York, Tri-State region. Prior to joining AURA, Tom gained extensive retail experience while working for the Trammell Crow Company and institutional management experience while at Coldwell Banker Commercial Group, both in Denver. Early work experience included management and leasing of commercial and multifamily investment properties in Seattle. Tom received his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) - College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and his Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University. Tom is a member of several Commercial Real Estate trade organizations, has been a contributing author for the Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI) and has earned the CPM, CCIM and CSM designations while maintaining the Accredited Management Organization (AMO) designation for Aegon USA Realty Advisors, LLC.Tom serves as a member of AEGON’s Executive Real Estate Committee and is an officer of each of the AEGON USA life insurance companies.
