Tom Schweda started in the machine tool business back in 1978. He is a hard working professional sales engineer that was introduced to the world of Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) just as Mitsubishi was entering the US market that same year. He quickly understood the advantages the new EDM would have on the Tool & Die Industry. He is credited with selling the First Mitsubishi Wire EDM into US to the former Sureway Tool & Die. They bought the DWC80 model which Tom had resold three different times during his career. This was the start of a long and successful relationship he has continued with Mitsubishi through all those years.During Tom’s first seven years he was also able to work with some of the finest machine tool builders who were also in their infancy in the US market like Mazak, Hitachi Seiki, Okamoto, and Kitamura. This experience was essential for Tom to realize his dream of running his own business.In 1985 Tom started his own machine tool distributorship, Schweda Machinery Sales. Mitsubishi’s Dealer of the Century and Dealer of the Year – 12 times!In January of 2005 Tom finalized a deal to sell his company to Concept Machine Tool Sales as he would now become part of a 16 state distributor network.Sales. With Tom’s understanding of what it is like to be a sole proprietor, building a business from the ground up, and having been also thrown into negotiations on multi-faceted systems pulling together multiple suppliers from various locations around the world. He has not done this alone as he prides himself on hiring only the best people in the industry to support his customers. Tom has always promoted the machine tool industry by being a targeted speaker for several associations including the Machinery Dealers National Association, SME and the Milwaukee World Trade Association.In his spare time he enjoys tomato and herb gardening, cooking and a competitive game of golf
