Tom is Executive Vice President of SMT Corporation located in Newtown, Connecticut. Founded in 1995 SMT is one of the worlds largest stocking distributors of DMS & obsolete electronic components & related testing services within the global electronics industry. Tom served 9 years continuously on the board of directors of the IDEA distributor quality organization beginning the year it was formed in 2003. During this time Tom served 2 concurrent terms as IDEA Vice President. Tom is a member of the Aerospace Industry Association’s (AIA) Counterfeit Parts IPT committee, and also a member of SAE International’s G-19 committee which is continuing to develop new inspection and process standards in the fight against counterfeit electronic components in global supply chains. Tom's company, SMT Corporation, is credited with the initial identification of several counterfeit processes over the past several years as well as developing the required mitigation inspections to reliably detect these new counterfeiting methods.In 2011 the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), Chaired by Senator Carl Levin and Co-Chaired by Senator John McCain, initiated a 12-month formal investigation into counterfeit electronic components within DoD supply chains. As part of this investigation the GAO chose the lab facilities at SMT Corporation to provide all authentication forensic analysis on behalf of the SASC. In November 2011 Tom was asked to testify at the formal senate hearings as an industry subject matter expert (SME) on counterfeit electronic components and the threat magnitude from China.Tom is very active on the Electronics Industry speaking tour and has become the leading voice from the Independent sector in the fight against counterfeit components in the electronics industry. Tom’s presentations serve to educate all sectors of the electronics industry about the growing dangers of counterfeits in today’s market, and best practices to detect and mitigate those dangers.

As Executive Vice President of SMT Corporation my day to day duties include business growth opportunities overall and continuous key-customer interaction to provide supplier updates and monitor customer satisfaction as well as new opportunities to provide additional products & services for individual customer needs.My duties also include a close working relationship with SMT lab managers to keep current on the constantly evolving counterfeit threats being identified as well as the continuous expansion of our Authentication, Failure Analysis and Electrical Test Lab capabilities and services.
