About Tom Skelly

After a long career doing aerospace applications like phased-array radars, satellite ground systems, and Air Traffic Management, it eventually dawned on me that today it's the biologists who face the most interesting computational challenges. I took a year off to do a Master's degree in that arena, and then spent five years working in the core bioinformatics group at one of the leading genomics research centres.After many years in the UK, I recently have moved back to Maryland, USA, and joined the sequencing facility informatics group at NIH's Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research. My focus there is on the Pacific Biosciences sequencing instrument.
