And I'll be leading the commercialization of the swine precision livestock platform that we are working on right now. It's the most exciting time in my career in terms of technology meeting animal health, production, and welfare. Technology used to be the barrier to what we could imagine, but not any more. Today, the technology is there to do whatever we want (slight exaggeration) and now the task is developing hardware-software products and services that help pork producers run their businesses better and more profitably while upping the game on animal welfare and health.

I consulted full-time during the decade of the '90's, the time when large-scale production systems in the pork industry (live pig production) were developed and built. DP Techlink, LLC is an Iowa-based, software-as-a-service (SaaS) company aimed at enabling agribusiness mobile workforce management and traceability for the animal protein supply chain. Our platform is based on mobile apps using GPS and cell data service that communicate in real-time to native web applications using cloud databases as well as communicating with legacy operational software running inside a company's firewall. Mobile app tracking includes animal feed trucking, animal producers' field service and supervisor staff, animal feed ingredient trucking, and live animal transport trucking. FeedTrackur(TM), our first product, launched in March, 2016. It enables animal feed truck driver and fleet management as well as real-time animal feed traceability.

At MetaFarms, we created a Web-based software system, using a SaaS business and delivery model (software-as-a-service), for all phases of pig production. The software system included sow management, closeouts for nursery and finishing phases, in-depth feed information directly imported from feedmills, detailed carcass and sales information directly imported from processors, pig movements, etc, etc. By 2015, we had built it into a software platform that was tracking over 25 million finishing pigs each day in North America.

I led the group that continued to develop and add functionality as we commercialized PigCHAMP throughout the world into the early 1990's. In 1985, I spent 3 months in Singapore as a consultant for GTZ (the West German Agency for Technical Development) bringing PigCHAMP to Singapore (they still had pigs then), Malaysia, and Indonesia. I did a lot of consulting on many interesting projects throughout the world, many having to do with expanding PigCHAMP and training on data analysis and using production records to improve pig production and financial results.This included many consulting visits sponsored by the US Feed Grains Council to Japan, Venezuela, Colombia, and Mexico, introducing PigCHAMP and doing training on how to use the data. I traveled around the world to consult and give presentations, seminars, workshops, and speeches on these topics in countries including Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, France, Denmark, and the United Kingdom.
