In this role I worked in a part-time role as part of the estate and forestry team on the Hole Park estate in Kent. In March I was involved with helping prepare the estate for reopening after the winter lock down, this was done by doing fencing through the bluebell woods, putting in and edging pathways through the gardens etc. This was accompanied by some insights into the workings of the estate from the estate owner and manager, which included the viewing of one of the 17th Century properties coming up for rent renewal, as well as tours of the agroforestry, timber and Christmas tree plantations. More recently I have been involved with the soil sampling required for the Higher Level Stewardship scheme for grazing land on the estate. I have also been more involved with the fertilisation and pruning of the Christmas trees, and the careful pruning of the cricket bat willow trees on the agroforestry plantation.

Working for a wide variety of clients with jobs ranging from clearing woodland paths for Woodlands.co.uk, to hedge-cutting and pruning for non-commercial clients. This has required the ability to work strictly to a brief whilst adhering to health and safety measures with machinery such as hedge cutters, strimmers and chippers as well as how to stay safe around tree surgery.

Simply Foodies is a family run event catering business. Responsible for working behind and managing the bar at larger events such as weddings and birthday parties. For smaller events working as a waiter or kitchen porter. These numerous events required working under stress and to tight deadlines, in addition to maintaining the high standards expected by the client. These jobs also required a large amount of guest interaction and initiative to ensure a positive experience for all.

Worked during the 2019 and 2020 harvests on this arable farm at the foot of the South Downs. Main skills required were the operation and daily maintenance of the two tractors, as well as the numerous implements utilised for grain carting and a mixture of deep and shallow tillage. The utilisation of new GPS systems and tillage equipment mid-season was required which helped display adaptability and quick learning
