An experienced and versatile engineer who worked initially in the construction industry as a plant operator on a variety of plant equipments prior to moving in to mechanical engineering. As a mechanical engineer I have been responsible for the operation and maintenance of various equipments ranging from small generators to heavy armoured tracked vehicles. This involves the forecasting of both servicing and inspections so all vehicles are kept in a roadworthy condition. Where required faults are identified and rectified. This may sometimes mean dealing with outside repair agencies.Along side looking after a vast array of vehicles platforms I am also a Lifting Equipment Examiner. This requires me to conduct Thorough examinations on various equipments. These start as small as an axle stand and as large as a vehicle mounted winch. Whilst conducting these examinations it is necessary to ensure that the standards set by both LOLER & PUWER are adhered to. There are occasions in this role where I am required to teach other trade groups in the management of lifting equipment and ensure that they are forecasting their equipment as well as keeping the correct documentation.I also have a small team of junior tradesman to manage. This requires to me to mentor them to bring them up to the required standard so as to assist them in reaching their potential. I am a team player and am comfortable working in a small team but am just as content working independently. I’m can speak across all spectrums from the people at the coal face to people in higher management, communication is certainly one of my key skills.I have a full driving licence and can drive all categories with the exception of D, D1, D1E (coach & minibuses above 9 people). I have both an in-date CPC and ADR (with in tanks).I’m also keen to learn new skills and improve my engineering competence. I am currently in the process of completing my C&G NVQ Level 2 in Welding Skills (MIG). This is a skill that I would like to utilise and improve in the future. I have many transferable skills which I have attained across my 21 year military career and believe that I would become a valuable member of any organisation would employ my services. Outside of my employment I am a team member of the REME Karting Team, a sport in which my many years of engineering and vehicle maintenance are well utilised. I have been involved in this team since it’s formation 10 years ago.
