Tom Vrotsos Consulting provides consulting in many aspects of the semiconductor industry. I have specific expertise in compact SPICE models, analog design including methods and tools, simulation, device design and characterization, ESD design, GaN and SiC power devices, SBIRs and other proposals for funding, and evaluating start up proposals for VCs etc. Large jobs (love pulling a team together) and small jobs are both equally welcome.

Tom oversees research projects on Analog and Mixed Signal design and modeling by small teams of graduate students. Tom mentors and trains the students as necessary, helps keep the students on track toward their degrees and assist them with publications, IP protection, and thesis/dissertation organization including serving on their degree committees. He provides mentoring and networking for internships and full-time employment. Additionally, he proposes and solicits funds for future projects.

Tom Vrotsos was a TI Fellow in the Analog organization. Tom founded (and was the initially the only employee of) the TI SPICE modeling lab in 1987, and Tom founded the TI Analog ESD lab in 1992. Tom drove the development and deployment of statistical SPICE models (BSIM3/4 and Mextram) and statistical SPICE tools within TI. Tom co-chaired the initial industry wide meetings that eventually lead to the formation of the Compact Model Council and the standardization of Spice models across the semiconductor industry.Tom helped initiate a novel ESD checker (Sparks) and a fast analog general mixed mode simulator (TIspice4). Both were integral to the TI analog design flow. And Tom has helped lead a novel analog automigration project (Midas) in Kilby Labs. Tom's disruptive technical innovations fundamentally improved the overall design methodology at TI 8 different times over his career.Tom was very active in university research. He was the TI representative to the SRC for the Computer Aided Design and Test Sciences area, an active industry liaison to 3 SRC research projects, a mentor to a fellowship student at Stanford, and an adjunct professor/visiting researcher at the University of Arkansas. Additionally Tom was very involved with the analog patent process.
