Keep Phoenix Beautiful is one of over 700 affiliates of Keep America Beautiful and was founded in 1982. We receive funding from the city of Phoenix Public Works Department and many corporate supporters. We provide anti litter and recycling initiatives and offer a comprehensive program for Phoenix school children teaching them the importance of recycling and the consequences of littering. Another key program of KPB is organizing corporate volunteer opportunities throughout the year. In November 2012, we launched PHX Renews with Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton to document and find temporary uses of vacant urban land, which is scattered all across Phoenix. Our first project was a 15 acre parcel at the NE corner of Central & Indian School Roads, While that site closed in 2018, our gardens have expanded into tow other sites at 19th Avenue & Camelback and at Mountain View Park in the Sunnyslope neighborhood. On March 23rd, 2014 Keep Phoenix Beautiful hosted the Clinton Global Imitative Day of Action at our PHX Renews site in central Phoenix. In attendance were former President Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords with her husband Commander Mark Kelly, and Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton. We organized 15 projects on our 15 acre site for over 650 college students from around the world who were providing a day of service to the community.Our "I Recycle Phoenix' events have diverted over a million pounds of electronic, clothing, paper and other items out of the landfill. And we have helped two Super Bowl's, a College Football Championship and a Final Four divert thousands of pounds of décor material from the landfill.As the President & CEO of Keep Phoenix Beautiful, I have managed the growth of the organization in staff size, revenue and relevance. We are proud to partner with the city of Phoenix and our many corporate supporters making an impact all across Phoenix.
