Senior Consultant at Dimension Data working in the Microsoft Solutions team for Next Generation Desktop Infrastructure.

Infrastructure Architect with the primary responsibility to design and support the effective delivery of secure and resilient IT Infrastructure while working within the TOGAF and ITIL best practice framework. The role and responsibilities involve:• Operating in a consultative role to the wider IT Operations and other business teams, ensuring that all current and anticipated future IT requirement meet the defined corporate standards.• Design and maintenance of the 3 Year Infrastructure Plan, Technology Roadmap and Hardware Standards policies and documents. Responsible for chairing quarterly review sessions with team managers to review policies and principles defined within these standards.• Acted as the key member of the Solution Review Group with the primary reasonability to define and challenge enterprise architecture standards and decisions, exploring commercial benefits where possible.• Proposed design enhancements to IT Infrastructure, capacity changes, contingency and recovery arrangements as required whilst maintaining awareness of the operational requirements especially in terms of service levels, high availability, response times, security and repair times. All activities performed in liaison with all of the service management disciplines.• Provide technical lead to technical delivery teams and Project Managers in the delivery and implementation of IT systems and changes via facilitating the Solution Architecture Design Documents completion, approval via the Solution Review Group and working within a strict project governance methodology based on the Prince2 framework.

Previous employment with the military defence and aerospace agency Raytheon Systems Limited. Primary scope of work included providing technical consultation on high visibility, high impact projects, with customers ranging from The Home Office and the MoD to the business itself. Most recent achievements include:• Designed and implemented a Zero Client environment for a customer base of 250. Achieved a travelling desktop model with measurable power, administration and cost savings. Backend implementation built on Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop for application and desktop delivery.• Re-design of the client OS deployment process, utilising Microsoft technologies such as the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit and Windows Deployment Services.• Implementation and administration of enterprise VMware ESX infrastructures and SAN environments.• Administered and maintained a server infrastructure of around 400 virtual servers to achieve an overall uptime of 99.9%, considerably exceeding the defined SLA.• Designed and implemented a Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 infrastructure to support and maintain the corporate client and server environment.• Wrote several SQL reports to run against data collected by our SCCM 2007 environment, to further enhance the reporting capabilities of the department. One such example was a report to determine any unexpected downtime from server systems.

Promoted to 3rd line operational role. Tasks, responsibilities and project work included:• Managing and maintaining the infrastructure of virtual and physical servers.• Developing an ESX environment, leveraging SAN and NAS technology.• Re‐designed and implemented the global Active Directory, entire Group Policy system and supporting technologies in advance of the EVO (Exchange 2007, Windows Vista, Office 2007) deployment.• Deployed EVO to entire UK business of over 1800 customers, travelling throughout the UK providing training and support during the transitional phase of the EVO project.• Created training and support material to aid handover to support staff.• Designed the Windows Vista and Server 2008 deployment platform, utilising new Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft Deployment Toolkit and Windows Deployment Services.• Packaged a portfolio of over 50 applications in order to distribute through Group Policy and System Center Configuration Manager 2007.
