I originally trained and worked as an architect before qualifying as a solicitor. On qualification I retained my interest in construction and elected to specialise in construction law. My previous experience within the construction industry means that I have an excellent insight into the specific issues faced by the construction sector.I primarily advise on issues of dispute avoidance and, where a dispute is unavoidable, on dispute resolution - whether by way of negotiation, mediation, adjudication, arbitration or litigation - in relation to construction and engineering projects and PFI agreements. In the past decade I have developed particular expertise in advising on the resolution of fire safety (and wider building safety) disputes and I also advise on the implementation of the new building safety regime introduced by the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated regulations.I am also experienced in advising on non-contentious construction issues, including advice on appropriate procurement routes and drafting and negotiating the terms of building contracts, collateral warranties and professional appointments, together with ancillary documentation.
