Having contracted to CMC for 2 years 11 months the Company has now employed me directly. I work within the third tier support and I am directly responsible for the Company's Nagios infrastructure. As part of the 3rd tier team I am also directly involved in the Company's Problem Management and resolution process which is one of our teams core functions. We provide mentoring and training for co-workers in the Application Support and Operations team. We are seen as a center of excellence with respect to the Software and hardware we support. I am expected to handle anything that is thrown at us and to liase directly with infrastructure and business facing teams to quickly and efficently resolve complex technical challenges.

Contracted to manage the Companies IBM Tivoli to NagiosXI migration. This was for 360 servers and 2000 Tivoli rules.Having successfully completed the migration I was retained to oversee the ongoing Nagios requirements. This installation has grown from 350+ servers to over 1100, and services have grown from 2000 services to 12,500+ Carried out a feasibility study into moving NagiosXI to Nagios Core. On successful completion of the feasibility study I migrated the NagiosXI Infrastructure to Nagios Core. I then implemented a new distributed checks facility, utilizing various nagios tools and pluginsI have taken business requirements and turned them into functioning Nagios checks and event handlers, deployed on a global scale covering our London, Singapore and Sydney operations. This has enabled the efficient monitoring and alerting of our infrastructure and business processes.Managed and mentored the outsourced resources who assisted in the day to day running of the Nagios infrastructure.

I was recruited to evaluate, and then design, test, and implement Nagios Monitoring across the Global Nokia estate. This was to be carried out within challenging timelines. I reported to the head of Infrastructure Services with weekly updates on progress. The project was delivered within the timescale and budget allocated.

This was a long contract that kept getting renewed. I worked on several projects at BT including BT Broadband Portal;I was initially engaged to assist with the BT Broadband portal at a 3rd tier level. This entailed writing documentation around our processes and procedures, Updating Cisco switch and content switches configuration configurations that would be applied by the networking team.Virtualisation ProjectWe looked at the feasibility of implementing a shared hosting virtual service offering. this was based the Xen hypervisor.NagiosAs part of the Project I implemented a monitoring model that allowed the spinning up, and automatic registration of virtual instances. This was then connected to our billing platform so that instances could be billed to clients.

SquareBox provided Nagios consulting services to industry.The company worked with several businesses to implement Nagios services across their estate which in turn enabled them to reduce their staffing costs due to automation.

Managed the UK Network Operations and Data Center for our American Company. The company provided managed hosting services from multiple data centers in the US and UK. I recruited and ran a team of Network and Server specialists who covered the UK hours of operation.We were both client facing and back end operations in the NOC. We would also rack and commission new hardware when it was required. Build and deploy servers and serviced for clients. Manage firewalls along with our US counterparts.

The company hosted a bespoke online gaming platform that enabled people to play games collaboratively via modem (this was all pre steam). Responsible for all Infrastructure issues and upgrades. Ran network, switches (cisco), Sun and Sun Solaris operating systems, windows.

I worked for 3 years at ACT starting as an Engineer and leaving as a Supervisor.We provided onsite computer hardware support for clients.Daily routine was collecting parts from stores, attending customer sites to carry out repair tasks, and reporting and closing jobs. Job tasking was controlled centrally from BirminghamAs a Supervisor I was responsible for all work in the East Anglia and parts of the home counties round to Watford and up to Danbury in Oxford-shire. 5 engineers were my direct reports and I handled their day to day management.. As part of this I instigated a new East Anglia model of working that reduced journey times to client sites and increase3d our job completion metrics.
