As the Chief Deputy of Patrol for the County of El Paso, my primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of our community while enforcing the law effectively. I oversee a team of 269 sworn deputies and managing an office budget exceeding $102,000,000 is a critical aspect of my role. I carefully allocate resources to meet our operational needs while adhering to financial guidelines and ensuring transparency in our financial practices. In addition to patrol duties, I am responsible for courthouse security, warrant enforcement, fugitive pick-up and extradition, civil process execution, and overseeing law enforcement in the unincorporated areas of the county. I am also entrusted with leading and directing major criminal investigations for smaller municipalities within the County of El Paso. During my career with the EPPD I worked as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Deputy and Assistant Chief of Police. During the course of my progression throughout the ranks I worked in virtually ever aspect of law enforcement available. As a Detective I worked both within the 'Criminal Investigations Division' as well as the 'Directed Investigation Division'. I was also the Crime Stoppers Spokesperson. As a Sergeant I worked - in addition to patrol -as a Traffic Sergeant, Academy Training Sergeant, and as a PAR (Police Area Representative) Sergeant. As a Lieutenant I worked - in addition to patrol - in both 'Auxiliary Services' and the Training Division. As Deputy Chief and later Assistant Chief of Police I oversaw every division and bureau at one time or another.
