I am a Solution Architect on the Service Delivery Team for the Verizon Cloud Product Offering. I have been an integral part of the products growth and success. Initially working with client SME’s and Synchronous R&D teams . Along the way to product launch a corporate acquisition, changed the solution to featuring a design where the client app gave a unified view to the customer, but the client was interfacing with various servers managing different content. At the time of rollout, the subscriber base was 4 Million media content customers, homed in 1 Data Center. In 4.5 years of growth has led to a subscriber base of over 70 million customers homed on a dozen data centers. In my role as a solution architect I have been involved with producing the requirements and design documents supporting many of the new features, I have also at times been tasked with providing traffic and capacity forecasts needed to support the datacenter expansion request. The Initial cloud platform supported handsets (Android, IOS), PC/Tablets, and Web endpoints being accessed by native cloud apps. A significant enhancement three years ago was the addition of an API Gateway located on AWS. This allowed 3rd party solution providers to develop apps which could access the customers VZ cloud content. The API Gateway platform also masked the complexity of the data center configuration, The cloud solution was initially targeted to service Verizon Wireless subscribers. Since roll out, the Cloud has been enhanced to accept VZT subscribers, and non-Verizon API developers. Each new type of customer required designing in new interfaces with additional provisioning and authentication platforms, each having its own security and connectivity requirements.

Performed daily operations with running small business, including payroll, invoicing, taxes, and budgeting. Cultivate strategic alliances with clients. Provide leadership and product management expertise for various clients.♦ Real Estate Strategy - Assisted IT real estate manager for Verizon IT with building consolidations and establishments of magnet centers. Implementing programs to better utilize existing building, with restacking of staff, and establishing desk sharing, WFH, and hotel options. Which realized the department savings in RE and utility costs.♦ Decommissioning Web Focus Proof of Concept (POC) Trial -Led team of consultants charged with conducting POC trial, for Verizon IT, to replace commercial version of Web Focus (WF) with a less expensive commercialized version of Open Source Pentaho, and the trial included the participation of 20 users. Converted department’s most complex scripts involved with auditing and reconciling functions for the trial to properly gauge complexity. Enabled Verizon to reduce WF support cost based on CPU licensing by factor of 5, resulting in savings of approximately $1.5M annually.

I lead my team in the design , implementation and operation of the KeepingTrac application, which also lead to 3 Patents. This application was built, utilizing JSF, Linux, Sybase, Apache/Tomcat, Java, Perl and Shell scripts. The KeepingTrac application allowed advertising agency to monitor commercial airings and the achieved ratings across broadcasters. ♦ We also built the CampaignTrac enhancement using Cognos for the presentation layer and leveraging the data collected as part of KeepingTrack This allowed Nielsen to repurposed that same data for a new class of customers. In this case the advertisers could manage the performance of the advertising agency.♦ We then combined results from two different commercial detection systems to fill in gaps, and allow the Nielsen Sigma System to keep their largest customer when we merged AudioAudit & Nielsen detections. The net result filled in gaps which occurred in both technologies, and improved results in both product lines.♦ Made saving in license fees and support cost, by switching our applications DBMS from Oracle to Sybase. Resulting in a reduction of 200k a year in license fees alone. This quick change was made possible by building a library of translation routines that converted the Oracle commands into Sybase commands.♦ Trained and incorporated off-shore contractors to lower overall costs of both product support and new feature development.♦ Partnered with sales and project leadership to establish enhancement priorities to facilitate growth of new customer base for Nielsen.

I designed the Advantage application which lead to 3 patents, while at the same time I selected vendors, and hired and managed the team as we built the key components of the company’s multi-tiered web products Advantage and NetVantage. Each of the applications featured JSP Web front ends, application server, and Oracle application database, with a series of java programs and shell scripts running in the background. ♦ I provided the end-users with both training and support.♦ I managed the team in re-designing and building a new encoding solution, transforming error-prone manual process that took 15 minutes to encode 30-second commercial into seamless, integrated 35-second process eliminating client concerns regarding time impact our encoding would add to their schedule. ♦ I challenged the team to identify ways to reduce hardware costs by using off-the-shelf, commercially available computers and replace customized engineered solution; equipment was rolled out to 100 sites and achieved $280K in savings.

I built and managed the company’s flagship product Starmem, as well as managed numerous other solutions. I frequently interfaced with sales and marketing, with the focus on growing the business, as we developed a portfolio of products and customized solutions providing, and when needed provide SOW/RFP support and solution estimates.♦StarMem was a game-changing, 3-tiered application and it cemented Beechwood as major player in telecommunications space. As it featured interfaces into network switch elements, and legacy systems for billing, service order, toll free, PIC,LPIC and OE translations.♦ I managed our quick-start application group, and served as served as member of advisory team to the California Public Utilities Commission, providing the PUC with information regarding technical issues surrounding SBC long-distance efforts.♦ I spearheaded various consulting engagements, leading teams to complete projects within time and budget constraints. Assignments ranged from PC based, Unix Client-Server, and IBM Mainframe solutions.♦ In one of the mainframe solutions (for the WFA/DO application), I identified and corrected problems with the dispatching algorithm. This algorithm was incorrectly assigning technicians to job assignments leading to ineffencies in technicans schedules. This algorithm schedules all maintenance and installation work assignments across all available service personnel, based on user defined suitability selection criteria , including techs job skills, the job location, job demands, travel time from current location, appointment windows, etc.♦ Implemented various application front ends, ranging from web-base to VRU
