Tom is the founder and Director of a number of environmental companies, known as the Maydencroft Family of businesses. The journey began in 2007, with Maydencroft Limited. From that small but ambitious beginning, his commitment to quality has made Maydencroft today's market leaders in a range of rural and environmental services. From forestry and farmland, to rivers and wetlands, from historic landscapes to new developments and from creating nature reserves to spectacular urban landscaping projects.To develop this further, Tom founded the Green Skills Training Academy. By 2030, Tom has pledged to...• Deliver 30 new environmental courses, increasing employability and affecting positive impact on the environment.• Give back 10,000 green skills to the rural economy, bridging the gap in current expertise shortages. • Create 100 new jobs and give many more people the opportunity to establish careers in the green sector.From his home, and across the wider Hertfordshire countryside, Tom is also Managing Partner of Maydencroft Manor Farm. He is passionate about English Longhorn cattle - focusing on sustainable, low input, high welfare, traditional farming methods and specialises in conservation grazing with his farm team.Tom became Managing Director and owner of Shanahan Contracting Ltd in 2018, a liquid waste and sewage business, specialising in cesspool and septic tank emptying, drain cleaning and underground surveying.Tom founded REVIVE Recycled Plastics Ltd in 2021. Whether it's a new environmental venture, or a sustainable way to update existing outdoor furniture, decking, fencing & bollards or boardwalks, REVIVE’s 100% recycled plastic products will enhance any project. Outside of work, Tom is Chair of the Royal Forestry Society Home Counties division as well as being on the National Natural Capital Markets & Forestry Committee and Vice Chair of the Hertfordshire and Middlesex committee of the CLA.
