As a seasonal ecolgist I have recieved training in conducting bat surveys, particularly emmergence surveys.

Through this part-time postion I have gained great experience into how ecological surveys are conducted, particuarly bat surveys. I have gained experience into emergence/ re-entry surveys.

This position was a voluntary research role alongside a PhD student looking at fibre fermentation in the hindgut of pigs. I worked worked alongside the PhD student carrying out a variety of procedures such as in vitro fermentation and use of a floor standing centrifuge.

This was a voluntary year abroad exchange at the La universidad Pontificia católica de Chile. I travelled throughout Chile and South America to see aspects of my course in application. For example, the use of protected areas in Patagonia such as the Torres del Paine national park in Chile and the El Calafate glacier protected area in Argentina allowed me to better understand the role of conservation in the face of a changing climate and the impact this has upon the conservation of species, such as the guanaco in Torres del Paine. Furthermore, my travel in the lake District of Chile allowed me to better understand the conflict that may arise when there are multiple stakeholders involved. For example,vthe conflict that has arisen in this region surrounding the logging industry between offimg companies and stakeholder groups such as the conflict that has arisen in this region between economic interests and biodiversity Conservation.
