 During this six-week voluntary internship, I worked within the events and marketing departments assisting the team on the lead up to one of their biggest events of the year, The OTT Summit. I was in charge of setting up and maintaining the official networking and business app/website that the company used for all their event delegates. I was entrusted with keeping the event’s revenue report completely up to date with all the new ticket orders. I was left in control of all the PowerPoint presentations needed for the event, including making sure their design fit perfectly within the event’s branding. I was required to send out commutative emails with many of the event’s VIP guests and speaker in order to keep them as up to date as possible about everything happening. I was left in control of the event’s ticketing website and ensuring that any problems with it were quickly rectified.  I was also involved with the planning and execution of a small VIP networking breakfast event that the company hosted, including creating and sending out invites, communicating with delegates and designing promotion materials. I attended multiple operational meetings to understand how real-life meetings of this kind run.On completion of my internship I was invited back by the company to a paid intern role within the organisation.

 My main role was to work alongside the restaurant manager to ensure that the business is running as efficiently as possible and providing the best experience possible for every customer. I had to plan rotas, organise the job roles of the employees on shift and ensure that every job is getting done. Doing this allowed me to develop both my leadership and team working skills. I was also responsible for ordering all the Front of House stock for the restaurant each week including wines, beers, coffee etc… allowing me to develop a good sense of planning and organisation. I was also often left in charge of the restaurant when the manger and/or owner isn’t present on site. This includes both opening and closing the restaurant and making sure it properly set up for the upcoming service/the next day.  I was also responsible for planning and running various private parties and events at the restaurant. This involved meeting with clients, creating quotes for them and making sure their events are specifically tailored to their individual needs. During this position I was the first member of staff to be awarded the “Employee of the Month”.
