With the EU Green Deal, the European Commission has developed a comprehensive strategy that aims to make Europe climate-neutral by 2050 through reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing the use of renewable energy, and modernizing the economy and society in a sustainable way. Second, a legal framework, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, was published at the end of 2022 that requires certain large companies and groups to disclose information about their environmental, social, and governance performance in their annual financial reports. Both initiatives aim to promote sustainability, the Green Deal focuses on policy and sectoral changes, while the CSRD focuses on transparency and reporting of sustainability information by companies. To drive the company’s sustainability agenda and to prepare for the mandatory reporting requirement, I was appointed Head of Sustainable Business Strategy & Reporting Campus Belgium. I ensure that the company's operations and strategies become more sustainable (environmental and social) and have a positive impact on the environment and society. I'm responsible for developing and implementing environmental and social sustainability ambitions and goals, and for ensuring that the company is meeting those goals.
