Content Producer
This role was secured after the completion of my successful time as an intern. While I retained a number of the duties I had as an intern (see below), I also took on several more, as well as a greater level of responsibility. Additional tasks and achievements following my promotion to a permanent role included:- Producing press releases to promote major new/updated pieces of content, such as the annual university league tables and crime stats.- Managing social media channels during high-profile events. This included the league table launch, where my work on social media saw huge increases in referrals (several hundred percent up on numbers that were already in the thousands) on previous years, as well as the company trending on Facebook.- Attending conferences on behalf of The Complete University Guide (CUG).- Managing, developing and creating content partnerships with a number of other companies.- Sourcing and managing an interactive live Q&A event for A Level results day.- Assisting in the recruitment and interview process for a new Digital Publishing Intern.- Attending and contributing to development meetings for the website. These meetings were of particular importance as CUG had recently been purchased by a larger company, and as such we were able to consider a number of exciting new ideas for the site.
Digital Publishing Intern
Despite officially being an intern, the initially limited resources that were available to the company during this time (we had only recently been purchased by a larger company) meant that I was required to quickly learn and complete a number of different tasks. These included, but were not limited to:- Writing and updating content.- Sourcing content from both universities and students, past and present.- Taking sole control of the company's Facebook and Twitter accounts, and taking the initiative to set up an Instagram page.- Producing detailed monthly social media and site traffic reports, which were circulated to senior staff included the chairman of The Complete University Guide and the CEO of our new parent company.- Attending the quarterly editorial meeting.- Uploading, publishing and editing commercial content provided by our clients.
Sales Assistant
Scribbler is a national chain of card shops, and my primary role was to help servecustomers. Being based in Canary Wharf meant that lunch hours were particularlybusy in the shop, meaning that the ability work well under pressure wasimperative. As there were only a small number of employees at the shop, other dutiesincluded dealing with incoming deliveries, answering phone calls, cleaning, replenishing and counting stock, taking money to and from the bank andopening/closing the shop (which also entailed counting the money in the tills andsafe).
Customer Assistant
This was a temporary Christmas job, however despite beingasked to stay on, the commute from my university home (in East London) to thestore (Kings Road) was beginning to interfere with my studies. My duties includedserving customers, answering phone calls and replenishing stock, and thelocation of the shop combined with the busy Christmas period meant that a goodwork ethic and attitude were required.
