Transportation Manager
Current– In charge of the national and international logistical responsibilities for four manufacturing facilities and seven regional distribution centers with transportation spending in excess of $30M. – Responsible for the direction of all transportation and third-party providers to optimize freight lanes and shipment cycle times in order to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.– Ensure all import and export shipments follow the correct compliance processes and procedures.– Act as a first-level response representative in hazardous material (hazmat) emergencies.– Drive processes to reduce damages. Reduced the number of missed customer deadlines, reduced freight claims, and minimized customer replacement orders.– Created improved quality KPI's to measure performance in these areas to support business decision making.– Contributed approximately $400K to the transportation savings target. Implemented several new services / modes in specific lanes that improved transit in both outbound freight and transfer lanes.– Implemented LTL routing guide that saved $0.02 per pound on customer deliveries.– Achieved network compression 4% under target through leadership, communication, planning, and flexibility. – Saved $200 per load through better carrier selection on regular run to Canada.– Saved $150K annually with a winterization plan; that reduced damages (frozen product) by 90%.– Led the effort to reduce distribution centers while maintaining customer service levels. Reduced the U.S. network from 11 to seven DC’s, and the Canadian network from seven to three DC’s.
