As manager for the development department I was responsible for the company’s products and the development process. In addition, I was the company’s engineering representative in the quality system, defining development, production and service processes as well as handling deviations.As well as responsibility for the company’s products on a technical level I also managed the department’s tasks and budget planning, providing the sales department with time and cost estimates and managed the department staff, peaking at five people.

The design work for products within the aviation industry requires a great deal of attention to customer needs, both communicated but equally important are requirements that often are overseen in the procurement process.During my years at Airsafe I was the lead designer in a wide range of products, from high end supersonic parachute systems to aviation harnesses, cargo restraint products, life rafts and life preservers. An essential factor in my success in this field is my ability to understand the customer and their needs, often thanks to my experience from a wide range of applications.

I was fortunate to get to write my thesis for Ericsson. A student colleague and I developed hardware and software with which regression tests for system redundancy could be automated overnight. The task was designed to test our competence in project management and our programming skills.As our software proved to be well suited for the task, the assignment was extended with an internship, during which we implemented the software in several test cases. This freed up department resources for more relevant tasks.
