Working in the role of Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor.In this exciting role I am expanding my experience in a full range of surveying and estimating competencies. From providing initial cost estimates from concept designs to completing full tenders for fully designed projects. Then management of projects from procurement stage through to final account settlement. I am involved in a number of projects, both commercial and residential which requires excellent time management as well as the ability to work well in a wide ranging team of people, in order to meet our project specific goals.

Working as a Project Surveyor on a large residential construction project in Dublin. In this role my duties include;- Performing measurement tasks in accordance with ARM- Procurement- Management of subcontractor packages- Performing monthly valuations- Dealing with variations- Final account settlement

Company Description - Hawkins are New Zealands largest privately owned construction and infrastructure company. Hawkins carry out a wide range of innovative construction and civil projects in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands, with a high emphasis placed on safety and the environment. Hawkins, as PMO to IAG insurance manages the construction activities throughout the Canterbury Region following the Christchurch Earthquake Sequence. In my current role of Lead Quantity Surveyor I lead a team of 7 Quantity Surveyors managing Circa 1,000 concurrent projects and turning over approximately NZ $10m per month. I also over see all the remaining Commercial repairs in the PMO. Other functions include: - Internal QC and audit procedures - Development and maintenance of commercial procedures and IT. - Reporting of production - Monitoring and distributing workload - Mentoring and training. - Supporting senior management. - Liaison with re-insurers representatives and auditors - Business development and liaison with external management consultants - Developing business models and rules and delegated authorities

I am currently working as a Quantity Surveyor on the Canterbury Recovery Project in the Residential Repairs 100K+ Silo for Hawkins Construction. On this project, worth over $1 billion over a period of 4 years, Hawkins provide a Project Management service for IAG (Insurance Australia Group), who are the client. My role includes managing over 100 projects, all of which exceed the value of $100k NZ and form part of a QS team which manage a turnover exceeding $6 million per month.Responsibilities in this role include;- Liaising with a number of Project Managers to set up budget structures for individual projects- Critiquing builders quotations to ensure they are using current market rates- Managing multiple concurrent projects- Ensuring all correct systems and procedures are followed- Formulating contract documentation- Preparing and settling variation claims with the loss adjusters and sub contractors- Preparing, settling and certifying final accounts for each project- Cost forecasting, reporting and controlling

In this challenging role, I had to work closely with the QS team while dealing with a number of different construction personnel. Due to the size of the project I had to keep to strict targets and deadlines as well as keeping up excellent communication with everyone involved in order for the project to run successfully.My responsibilities include:- Assessing and approving quotes- Evaluating variations- Providing information to loss adjusters to show value for money- Assessing and approving payments- Ensuring contractors are paid in a timely manner- Contributing to an effective working relationship between contractors and contract supervisors while always maintaining the best interests of Fletcher EQR

As a Junior Quantity Surveyor for a contractor my duties included working within a group and working on my own while keeping to strict deadlines. I was involved in producing BOQs for small projects and assisting the other Quantity Surveyors with re-measures on larger projects.
