Tomas is a registered UK Patent Attorney and Canadian Patent Agent. Tomas is primarily engaged in drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications, dealing primarily with technologies in the energy, wireless power, and telecommunication fields.Tomas has worked with his clients to conduct patent audits at client sites comparing client technologies with their patent holdings. In addition, Tomas has experience teaching an introductory intellectual property course to Ryerson business students.Tomas holds degrees in Mathematics and Engineering from Queen’s University, and in Intellectual Property Law from the Munich Intellectual Property Law Centre. During his final thesis project at Queen’s, he developed an alternate constellation mapping scheme for non-uniform compressed multimedia data.Prior to joining Marks & Clerk, Tomas gained experience in nuclear power engineering while working both on the construction site and in the design office for one of Canada’s largest engineering consulting companies.Tomas is a member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) where he is an active member of the Public Awareness Committee.
