Cloud Software Group is the merger of TIBCO and Citrix. The merger was completed in September of 2022 and I took on the role of Chief Financial Officer which includes Finance, Accounting & Tax, FP&A, Merger Integration, Acquisitions and Divestitures, Investor Relations, Facilities and Information Technology. We purchased Roxio from Rovi Corporation in January, 2012 and Pinnacle Studios from Avid Technologies in July 2012. I was responsible for global financial operations for Corel Corporation. When I joined, the company was public and duel listed on the NASDAQ and TSE (CREL). We took the company private in February 2010 with the backing of Vector Capital, a San Francisco based private equity firm.

Saba software was taken private by Vector Capital in March, 2015 when they ran into some accounting issues that caused them to be delisted from NASDAQ. I worked on the take private transaction as an operating partner at Vector Capital and then stepped in as CEO in June, 2015 when the previous CEO left. My charter was to fix the accounting issues, replace legacy systems, improve operating processes, improve the profitability of the company, and fill gaps on the leadership team. As an Operating Partner, I evaluated investment opportunities in conjunction with the rest of the Vector investment team. Because of my background in operations, equity research, and management consulting, I focused on understanding the operations of the business and determined the best way to operate the company within the Vector portfolio. Vector focuses exclusively on technology companies and I focused primarily on software companies. In most cases we purchased companies but in some cases we purchased assets from large multinational companies which requires us to set up an infrastructure to support the business. This infrastructure includes legal entities, tax structures, facilities, information systems, and, most importantly, the people that we hire to operate the business. Vector Capital is a San Francisco based Private Equity Fund that was spun out of Ziff Brothers Investments, a family investment firm, in 1997. Today, Vector manage over $2 billion in equity capital from a variety of investors including university endowments, foundations, financial institutions, and wealthy families. Vector has built a successful track record of taking public companies private, buying founder-owned companies, investing growth equity, recapitalizing broken balance sheets and spinning out non-core businesses from corporations.

Ingres (now Actian) was spun out of CA by Garnett & Helfrich Capital, a venture buy out firm in San Mateo, CA and is an open source database company. My role was head of finance and operations (including human resources, information technology, facilities, and legal). They are headquartered in Redwood City, CA and have offices in the US, UK, France, Germany, South Africa, Brazil, India, Australia, and New Zealand.
