I'm CFO of Cloud Software Group, an infrastructure software company owned by Vista Equity Partners and Elliott Management. Cloud Software Group was created by the merger of TIBCO and Citrix in September of 2022. During my more than 18 years in private equity I have been CEO or CFO of a number of different software companies including Cloud Software Group, TIBCO, Saba, Corel, and Actian. I also served as an Operating Partner at Vector Capital, a San Francisco based Private Equity firm. I am on the board of directors of Qualys (NASDAQ: QLYS) and I chair the Audit Committee. I have previously served on the boards of Corel, Saba, Serus, and Laszlo Systems. The common thread for me over my career has been software. I started as a software developer building applications for Western Life Insurance Company (now Fortis) and Norwest Bank (now Wells Fargo). After business school I joined Deloitte Consulting as a management consultant, first doing custom development projects for large clients and then installing software from Oracle, Manugistics, Business Objects, and others at large Fortune 500 companies such as Honeywell and Boston Scientific. When packaged software started exploding in popularity in the mid 1990's, I joined Piper Jaffray as a software research analyst covering the small cap software space and then migrated from Minneapolis to San Francisco to work for Goldman Sachs covering infrastructure software. My Wall Street career concluded at Citigroup where I ran the software research franchise and covered all the major software companies including Microsoft, Oracle, Symantec, Intuit, Adobe, Autodesk, and many others. Specialties: Finance, Corporate and Product Strategy, M&A, Raising Capital, Investment Strategy

Operating PartnerVector Capital Mar 2014 - Oct 2015San Francisco, California, UsAs an Operating Partner, I evaluated investment opportunities in conjunction with the rest of the Vector investment team. Because of my background in operations, equity research, and management consulting, I focused on understanding the operations of the business and determined the best way to operate the company within the Vector portfolio. Vector focuses exclusively on technology companies and I focused primarily on software companies. In most cases we purchased companies but in some cases we purchased assets from large multinational companies which requires us to set up an infrastructure to support the business. This infrastructure includes legal entities, tax structures, facilities, information systems, and, most importantly, the people that we hire to operate the business. Vector Capital is a San Francisco based Private Equity Fund that was spun out of Ziff Brothers Investments, a family investment firm, in 1997. Today, Vector manage over $2 billion in equity capital from a variety of investors including university endowments, foundations, financial institutions, and wealthy families. Vector has built a successful track record of taking public companies private, buying founder-owned companies, investing growth equity, recapitalizing broken balance sheets and spinning out non-core businesses from corporations. -
