Required by purchase & sale agreement to remain onboard after sale of company to train management, sales, technical and manufacturing personnel on the operation of an extrusion coating business. I was required to leave the industry for 4 years after leaving Scapa, and only consulted on a limited basis in the US and China.

I wrote a regular technical column as well as occasional feature articles in this leading plastics and paper converting industry magazine.

Started from scratch, ran and sold this specialty extrusion coating business. Developed concept, raised capital, designed plant and equipment, secured customers, facility, and financing, started up and ran the business. Sold it to Scapa Tapes, NA in 2000, and left in 2002. We made specialty extrusion coated products, including breathable films and fabrics.

Completely responsible for product development and quality assurance in the papermaking and extrusion coating areas of this $85MM plant. Served as corporate polymer processing liaison for this German-based firm. Supervised 45 people and a budget of $8MM, and for a time managed the plant's.

Served as technical director to the Food Wrap Business (5 plants w/$260MM sales) responsible for product development, quality assurance & testing, and miscellaneous technical support. Processes included papermaking, waxing, parchmentizing, printing, extrusion coating, cast sheet, thermoforming and miscellaneous converting operations including interfolding.

Began as product development engineer progressing to R&D Director. Worked on extrusion coating and wax, hot melt, bitumen laminating for building and industrial papers. Supervised eight people in the corporate lab and pilot plant. Maintained UL, FDA, and other agency and government files.

Served as product development engineer for oriented polypropylene film products. Designed pilot equipment and began company's film extrusion coating development program, which ultimately changed the packaging industry forever. Worked on raw material selection, polymer processing, corona treating in the tenter process, all directed towards various flexible.

Served as process development engineer responsible for developing and improving flexible barrier packaging film processing and product performance on a unique process. Worked on new coextrusion technology, screw design, polymer irradiation, heat sealing, web handling, extruder troubleshooting, raw material selection and processing, and polymer.
