Potter
CurrentI have been involved in ceramics since high school, and continued my education in ceramics throughout my time at the University of Colorado. Studying under some renowned artists which include Ann Currier, Betty Woodman, Tom Potter and Wayne Branum. Upon graduation from college I took a one year Resident-in-Artist position at the Archie Bray Foundation. During my time at the Bray I have had the privilege of working with ceramic artist Kurt Weiser, Clary Illian, Richard Notkin, Cary Esser, Dirk Elliot, and Andy Martin. The following year I was awarded the Artist-in-Resident position at Millersville University under John Ground. Now that I have retired from the printing industry I have gone back to Pottery. Throughout my time in printing I was still involved in ceramics and active in the ceramics community, submitting pieces in juried shows and for fundraising auctions, and spent time on the board of the Baltimore Clayworks. As functional potters, we have the unique opportunity to bring art into everyday life.I like to push the clay body along with the use of various slip techniques and atmospheric firing to create a surface that has contrast and dimension, allowing the user to feel the energy and fluidity of the piece. Resulting in a pot that begs to be used and augments the connection between user and function.
