I'm a programming enthusiast with passion for constantly improving and refining software development techniques.Years of hands-on coding have taught me that the key to effective and sustainable software development lies primarily in clear communication, which is often the most significant bottleneck. Beyond that, successful software development relies on disciplined dependency management. Most issues that arise in software development are symptomatic of a breakdown or inefficiency in one or both of these areas.I'm a strong believer in addressing the root causes to fix a wide array of seemingly unconnected problems. The optimal approach, I've found, involves picking, harnessing, and integrating proven techniques, principles, and design patterns most suitable to given need.In 2016, I became fascinated by the principles of extreme programming techniques like BDD, TDD, pair programming, and domain-driven design, as well as the concepts of CQRS and event sourcing. Ever since, I've considered myself an ongoing student in the field, continuously eager to learn more.I have open-source project stapi.ai, which is currently paused - I'm taking a break from it to think about it's future. Stapi.ai is where my love for software development meets my fascination for biology. In stapi.ai, we're using nature-inspired building blocks to create adaptable business systems. It was supposed to become personalized EHR system, but healthcare is not just about technology, but also about politics. It didnt played out so we postponed it and focused on some interesting ideas, which we turned into open source project stapi.ai.

We had big banking client and there was a business need to build event-sourced system because of non-functional requirements for provable audit logs. My job was to set up blueprints, develop them as project grew and support teams from solution design to implementation details whenever needed. I chose independent modules in monolithic applications, prepared to be splitted and separated in future. Most of them built with CQRS and event sourcing with strong enthusiasm to Domain-driven design and test-driven development. We also tried code-generation so that programming the actual feature would be very fast, but there was not time to master piece it. The very new problem I encountered was how to specify what we want to build and specify it fast enough so that developers have the stream of well specified tasks they can work on. I learned much about communication bottlenecks. We leveraged event modeling for that and I liked it so much that I started my weekend project (now stapi.ai).
Backend Repairman
- Tackling very complex (accidentaly) legacy code- Characterization testing- Iterative, evolutionary refactoringI was tackling massive backend legacy application with basically no architecture, static calls to database all around, GOD objects, longest methods I have ever seen and not a single test suite. I felt strong need to put it under control, so I created basic characterization test suite to lock down the critical business functionality. This is the ultimate necessary precondition for any refactoring, because you cannot change any legacy, business-critical system when you cannot effectively know, whether it still works. "Working effectively with legacy code" by Michael Feathers became my bible. I see great value in experience like this, because knowing how to iteratively cultivate legacy system inspired me how to work with technical debt.

I needed to get experience from larger company (relatively for me - 150+ people, 20+ developers). I was part of WMS team so I learned a lot about warehouse management domain. I encountered with some legacy parts of application with new perspective and I was able to work with it with some level of sanity. I also developed messaging system for communication between microservices with implementation for RabbitMQ using google protobufs.
Backend Architecture Consultant & Domain Programmer
- DDD, CQRS, Event sourcing - Event stormings- Business domain exploration- Mentoring, pair programming- PHPI was at the beginning of greenfield application for a realty management system. I established architecture which was essentially bounded contexts implemented as autonomous systems within a monolithic application so that we got autonomy of microservices with the ease of deploying and operating a monolithic system. We used event storming technique to explore domain we were to implement. Business logic was developed with strong enthusiasm about the domain-driven design. We also used CQRS and event sourcing from PHP prooph toolbox. I pushed to use disciplines of extreme programming, so everything within domain was developed test-driven and we paired a lot, so that everyone involved get to know what and how we do things. I was totally excited about this project, because it was first time I had freedom to use extreme programming techniques in full range. And I was stunned how well that worked. Because of pairing, junior people learned all that stuff really fast. And we were able to adapt domain models really fast as we explored domain and our knowledge grew, because of highly trustable suite of tests and great communication. I was software architect, mentor and I also programmed some parts of domain model and test infrastructure.

- PHP- SOLID principles- Dealt with pitfalls of badly written tests- DDD + CQRS + ES basicsI have tried to tackle dynamic pricing feature clean and nice, but I was not satisfied with the result. It pushed me hard to extreme programming, domain driven design, CQRS, event sourcing and event storming. So next features I wrote were the ones I was satisfied with - first time in my life more than a week after :-). It was the hard path and result not all shiny in my pedantic view, but still best I have seen. I made important mistakes to form my self-reflection, learn from it and expand my perception of how software engineering can look like.

At that time, nobody around knew what domain-driven design even means, so by consequence of that I got a notion of how shuffling layers and slices of application architecture can lead to hacking code, shortcuts and lack of sustainable development. I pointed out my view and did my best to push towards better direction. I learned how to test code and wrote my first fully tested big backend feature (3+months of development) :)
